VARANASI: The Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKVP) administration on Thursday terminated the service of a guest lecturer of Political Science, Mithilesh Kumar Gautam, for his objectionable remarks on social media. He was also prohibited from entering the university campus.
“The service of guest lecturer Mithilesh Kumar Gautam was been terminated with immediate effect on September 29 by the order of registrar Sunita Pandey,” MGKV spokesperson Navratan Singh told TOI on Friday.
Gautam had been teaching in MGKV as a guest lecturer for around two years, he said.
According to the order issued by the registrar, students submitted a complaint against Gautam on Thursday against his ‘anti-Hindu’ post on social media. The act of Gautam not only caused resentment among the students, but also disturbed the atmosphere on the campus along with the examination and admission process. He was terminated with immediate effect as per the rule of the university.
Gautam had made a remark on women fasting during Navaratra in his Facebook post.
