DEHRADUN: The Uttarakhand STF in its ongoing probe in the UKSSSC question paper leak case, arrested the wanted alleged leader of the UP-based cheating mafia gang and mastermind of the scam, Syed Sadique Musa and his close aide Yogeshwar Rao, from Lucknow on Thursday evening.
According to STF, the two were nabbed with the assistance of UP STF with which it was in close coordination as both the accused hailed from the neighbouring state. The Uttarakhand police had earlier on September 7, announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh on Musa and Rs 1 lakh on Rao from Rs 25,000 each.
Ajai Singh, senior superintendent of police (SSP), STF told media persons, “As the two were already wanted, the STF was constantly after them. On Thursday, we received a tip-off from our informers that the two have planned to come to a place near Lucknow. Based on the credible input, a team was sent to Lucknow immediately.”
“Meanwhile, the UP STF was also alerted about it. On Thursday evening, the two were nabbed by them near Polytechnic Square in Lucknow. Within a few hours, our team also reached there after which UP STF handed the two to them. They are being brought to Dehradun for further questioning after which they would be produced before the court likely on Friday,” said Singh.
Musa is accused of roping in earlier arrested and prime accused in the case—Hakam Singh, Chandan Manral, Rajesh Chauhan and Kendrapal. After the arrest of all of them, he had gone underground to evade police arrest. With the arrest of Musa and Rao, STF has so far arrested a total of 41 accused in the paper leak case.
